Duncan A Smith BDS

Duncan, originally from Dundee, qualified at Dundee University in 1985. He is passionate about all aspects of dentistry and regularly attends courses to keep up to date.
As founder of the practice and the principal dentist, Duncan is committed to its continued development and to providing the most effective solutions on all aspects of dental health. His particular interests are in cosmetic dentistry, oral surgery and dental implants.
Outside work Duncan enjoys spending time with his family and manages to juggle work and life with three children, admirably. Duncan is also a keen skier and motorbike enthusiast.

Alison M Shanks BDS
GDC no. 78024
Alison comes from Glasgow and qualified in the year 2000 from Dundee University. Upon graduating, Alison joined us for her two years General Professional Training and has remained as an associate since then.
Outside work Alison is a keen skier, an accomplished singer and a talented chef.
Nowadays much of Alison's time is focused on her two beautiful little girls.

Ryan Doherty BDS
GDC no. 77963
Ryan hails from Garvagh, Northern Ireland and graduated from Belfast University in the year 2000. He spent some time working in private practice in Cambridge before joining us in June 2003. One of his particular areas of expertise is in endodontics.
Ryan is multilingual, speaking Spanish and Italian, and is a veritable oracle of information on a vast range of subjects. During his student years he represented his university on University Challenge, several times. |

Fiona MacPherson BDS
GDC no. 71626
Fiona is originally from Aberdeen and qualified from Glasgow University in 1996. Upon qualifying, Fiona worked in Glasgow for three years before heading through to Edinburgh.
She has a particular interest in cosmetic dentistry and endodontics.
Her other interests include travel, running, golf and art.........she is also a pretty good saxophonist!
Fiona also has two gorgeous young children who keep her busy the majority of the time.

Julia McGurk BDS

Julia graduated from Dundee University in 2010 and is currently on a specialist career pathway, with a particular interest in paediatric dentistry.
Julia is originally from Bothwell and, outside of dentistry, she is a keen runner and keep-fit entusiast, attending the gym regularyly.
She is also very happy in her busy role as an aunt to her many nieces and nephews.

Wendy Newlands BDS

Wendy qualified from Dundee University in 2010 and, like Julia, is also on a specialist career pathway. Her primary interest is in paediatric dentistry.
Wendy is originally from Kemnay, Aberdeenshire but now prefers the climate further south!
Her hobbies include dancing and cooking.

June Easton EDH
GDC no. 1991
June joined the practice in 1999 and has worked in a wide variety of practices both in Britain and abroad since qualifying in 1980 from Edinburgh University in Dental Hygiene. She returned to Edinburgh Dental Hospital to work as tutor in Dental Hygiene and saw many students graduate under her guidance.
Outside work, June loves to travel and keep fit. She has helped raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness by participating in Edinburgh's annual 'Moonwalk' |

Andrea M Smith
Andrea qualified from Glasgow University in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery in 1986. Having spent time in mainly small animal practice and also time in retail business management, she made the transition into the dental business and joined the practice in 1997. Andrea believes strongly in a team approach to business success.
She has a busy schedule, juggling work and family life with three lively children. |

All our dental nurses have passed their National Certificate in Dental Nursing or are currently undergoing training. This training provides them with the skills to assist the Dentist or Hygienist in delivering your treatment and care.
Each member of our team plays a vital role in making sure your visit is as pleasant as possible.
